My name is Sheri White and I am a Nova Scotia potter who works out of my Spryfield studio, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am a member of the Nova Scotia Potters Guild. My work is available for purchase at my studio, through my website, or, in limited numbers, my turquoise pattern is available at KEW Furniture, in Halifax's north end. Current offerings, in my studio, are available under the NEW WORK tab.
I first fell in love with clay in 1993, but my fascination was mentored, and blossomed, when I met Paula MacDonald, in Chester, NS in 1997 where I began a formal two year apprenticeship.
Since then, my journey with clay has been riddled with exits, side trips, and detours as I continued to make pottery, return to grad school, experience life in the not-for-profit world and raise my children. In 2009, I left my career to stay home and raise my youngest son and in 2012 I re-established my home studio and began my pottery practice once again.
During the summer of 2014, I moved my studio to 12 Williams Lake Road in Spryfield. It's been over three years since I've been there and I fall more in love with that little red house each day I walk through its bright yellow door. Open studio has now grown to 18 potters! The world problems that get solved in that space, the songs that get sung, the stories that are shared.....and of course, the free therapy that is given and received by working with clay. It has become a special place for all of us.
