My name is Sheri White and I am a Nova Scotia potter who works out of my Spryfield studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I make functional stoneware pottery and offer open studio to experienced potters. I am a member of the Nova Scotia Potter's Guild. My work is available to purchase at my studio or through my website. Current offerings are available to see under the New Work tab.
I first fell in love with clay in 1993, but my fascination was mentored, and blossomed, when I met Paula MacDonald in Chester, NS in 1997 where I began a formal two- year apprenticeship.
Since then, my journey with clay has been riddled with exits, side trips and detours as I continued to make pottery, return to grad school, experience life in the NFP corporate world, and raise my children. In 2009, I left my career to stay home and raise my youngest son and in 2012, I re-established my home studio and began to fine-tune my pottery skills once more.
During the summer of 2014 I moved my studio to 12 William's Lake Road in Spryfield, Nova Scotia. It's been three years since I've been there and I fall more in love with that little red house each day I walk through it's welcoming door. Open studio has now grown to 18 potters! The world problems that get solved in that space, the stories that get shared, the free therapy that is given and received! It has become a special place for all of us.
