Stoneware clay when fired exhibits some stone-like characteristics such as light speckles or roughness on unglazed areas. It is a very versatile clay, easily taking to glazes and hand painted stains.
I use a cone 6 clay and glazes that are fired to a temperature of approximately 2200 degrees fahrenheit.
My stoneware pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe.
My work can soon be found at KEW furniture, the Halifax Crafters Society Winter Market - Dec 1-3 and at my Studio Winter Open House Dec 15-16th.
