Day 150…spring peepers

This is the time of year that in the evening we hear the spring peeper chorus at a number of wetland sites in the neighbourhood. These are their mating calls as they cling to branches or rocks near the water’s edge. It’s no “But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks?” but it is the sound of spring and the sound of life. It’s one of my favourite signs of spring.

You can learn more about them here.
