Day 41…quiet
There is beauty in quiet. When I am out walking in a quiet forest I know that this is a luxury that is not afforded to everyone. I think about the families in Gaza who are living in a dystopian nightmare. I think about the people in Ukraine who don’t know when the next bomb will drop. I think about the people in Sudan who are surrounded by war and famine.
I follow a Palestinian journalist on Instagram, Bisan Owda, who documents the daily horrors inflicted upon the Palestinian people by the IDF and the other day she pointed out that the world has never been more technologically advanced as we are now to stop something like what is happening there. But we do not have leaders in place with a will to make it stop. Have we failed as a civilization? To allow yet another genocide to happen and not have the will to make it stop - where is the humanity of the leaders who can end this?
This is the duality of being human. That we hold contradictory thoughts and feelings in our minds. On one hand we know there is immeasurable suffering that is breaking our hearts, but we can not turn our eyes away from the beauty and magic that nature still provides.
